A different Star Wars movie has been removed

A new Star Wars movie from Shawn Levy is revealed, another is snatching the dust. J.D. Dillard's film,

which was initially announced back in February of 2020 featuring Luke Cage scribe Matt Owens on screenwriting duties the project will not be a reality at Lucasfilm.

Dillard said to The Wrap that it was "unfortunately no longer a thing," however "it was not for lack of trying." The plot details of the never-to-be-realized project have not been made public.

The filmmaker has previously directed the superhero film Sleight and the horror survival film Sweetheart The next project is the war drama Devotion with Jonathan Majors and Glen Powell.

In addition to Free Guy director David Levy's next film, Watchmen showrunner Damon Lindelof is working on a fresh Star Wars movie that's currently being developed.

The movie is written by Ms. Marvel helmer Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. The film will take place after The Rise of Skywalker - but it's not an extension of the Skywalker storyline.

The Rise of Skywalker was the final big-screen release of this Star Wars franchise, despite there being numerous other feature-length projects being developed in the time since.

But, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins's film, Rogue Squadron, is currently on hold as well as Taika Waititi's film is in the process of being developed for more than two years.

The next show to be released in the far-off galaxy comes The Bad Batch season 2 which will be available in the form of Disney Plus on January 4, 2023.
