Drawing for Powerball for Monday, November. 7 with a record $1.9B jackpot is delayed due to technical issues

The draw for the record-breaking Powerball was delayed because of a "technical problem," lottery host Laura Johnson told television viewers who were eagerly waiting to find out if they were going to be millionaires.

"Because due to a technological issue this evening, we are in a position to not be able to offer the Powerball drawing right now.

In the event that we're unable to fix the issue and carry out the drawing it will be accessible at Powerball.com," Johnson said.

"Our rules demand that the drawing is delayed until we are able to verify that all procedures for playing have been completed successfully."

In an announcement lottery officials stated that the delay was due to "a participating lottery needing extra time to complete the required security protocols. "

The jackpot for the lottery was estimated at record $1.9 billion, with the cash option of $929.1 million According to the Powerball website. The jackpot amount will be determined based on the actual sales.

It was the biggest jackpot, topping the $1.586 billion jackpot that was taken home by Powerball during January 2016 (see below for charts).
