Elon Musk's Twitter account has identified thousands of employees to be dismissed, which is approximately 50 percent of the company's employees.

The list of employees who were selected to be cut off from a layoff process was announced on Wednesday morning,

with about 3,700 employees selected to be cut according to two sources who have knowledge of the plans as well as an internal announcement read by Insider.

Stack ranking of employees is a kind of performance evaluation that has been in operation since the day Musk officially acquired Twitter this week, as Insider reported.

Vice presidents were later tasked to compile lists of all employees within their departments and decide which employees should stay at the company and which might be let go.

The lists were then distributed for review by Musk along with his Transition Team, which included the lawyer he personally hired, Alex Spiro, as Insider said.

Employees are largely kept unaware of any developments that have transpired during Musk's first few days as the CEO of the business,

there are layoffs expected to be announced on Friday, two people who are familiar with the company's plans told Insider they could happen at midday.
