Elon Musk's Twitter cuts employees off across the entire company

Twitter on Friday cut thousands of employees from departments across the company in a major reduction in costs

that could alter the way one of the most popular platforms operates one week after it was purchased from billionaire Elon Musk.

Many Twitter employees started posting on the platform on Thursday evening and Friday morning that they were blocked from their corporate email accounts in advance of the scheduled layoff notification.

A few also posted blue hearts and salutes emojis, indicating they had been fired from the workplace.

On Friday, Twitter employees from departments that include ethical AI marketing and communications search health, public policy along with other groups posted tweets about being let go.

The curation team, who help to improve the quality of information available via the website, for instance, on elections, were dismissed, as per employees' tweets.

"Just had a remote log-out of my laptop at work, and then removed out of Slack," one Twitter employee wrote on the social media platform.

"So regrettable that it had to come to an end in this manner."

Another employee claimed that she along with other members of Twitter's Human Rights team had been dismissed.
