'Elvis' Debut Beats 'Top Gun: Maverick' at the Box Office

The hips of the world are shaking after the debut of Baz Luhrmann's Elvis biopic It's also making the box office shake.

The opening weekend of the film was met with some tough competition

from the colossal Top Gun: Maverick; the long-awaited sequel many years

in the making, dominated the box-office during its initial four weeks.

However, Elvis was able to make a splash according to Forbes which ranked it at the number.

1 with a tiny margin in its debut week.The Austin Butler-directed story of the

life of Elvis Presley earned $31 million during the first weekend.

Tom Cruise and company added $29.6 million to their already-spread

collection of profits during the fifth weekend of their run in theaters.
