Henrik Stenson, Swedish Golf Federation, Cuts Ties

After Henrik Stenson, 46, decided to join LIV Golf and became the Ryder Cup captain. The controversy caused a rift in the SGF's relationship.

Gunnar Hakansson, secretary general of the SGF, stated that Henrik, due to his involvement with LIV, cannot any longer act as a role model for Swedish junior golfers.

He said that he was absolutely delighted and thrilled to be named European Ryder Cup Captain.

It is an immense honor and it was a great honor to receive the confirmation call.

"I want to thank the selection panel and all European golf fans for believing in me.

I will tell them and them that I will do everything possible to win the Ryder Cup back to Europe.

"When I began my career as a professional golfer it was beyond my wildest expectations

that I would one day follow the footsteps of legendary players like Seve and become the European Ryder Cup captain.

Today is proof that dreams can come true sometimes.
