In the end, according to the prophecy, the existence of an Aegon Targaryen will unify all of the Seven Kingdoms to fight an unidentified evil.

The viewers know who "The Prince Who Was promised" was: Aegon Targaryen, better known as Jon Snow, who defeated the Night King and the White Walkers in the final episode of Game of Thrones.

The dramatic irony of the story is not appreciated by Alicent who believes Viserys refers to their son Aegon.
