Jamie Campbell Bower says about the Game of Thrones spinoff being cancelled: "Of course it is sad."

Before Jamie Campbell Bower became Vecna in Stranger Things, the actor was part of another high-profile franchise.

Bower was among the actors cast for a Game of Thrones spinoff at HBO. The pilot was even shot by Naomi Watts.

This concept was set thousands of years ago and seemed to be the first Thrones successor series. In 2019, the project was cancelled.

Bower tells EW that everything happens for a reason in an interview. "I don’t believe anything happens by chance. It's a sad moment when that spin-off doesn't work out. It is.

He adds, "This was always present," in reference to his Stranger Things role. "This was coming. "I didn't know."

Bower was hired to perform an undisclosed part in Game of Thrones prequel series along with ensemble cast members

Watts and Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough Miranda Richardson, Josh Whitehouse Sheila Atim Ivanno Jeremiah and Alex Sharp.

HBO has decided to not move forward with the spin-off series idea. Instead, it will focus on House of Dragon.

This prequel series will premiere Aug. 21. It takes place during the Targaryen reign in Westeros.
