Netflix canceled their series Grendel, despite having already filmed the entire season.

Grendel was originally a series of comic books created by Matt Wagner. The original publication of the series was Comico in 1982.

Dark Horse took over Comico's publishing rights and has published the series ever since.

Grendel is Hunter Rose's character, who assumes the role of Grendel and puts on a disguise for his nightly adventures as a crime lord and assassin.

Grendel's popularity has increased over the years. He was even featured in a 1993 crossover episode with Batman.

Netflix's eight-episode Grendel was the initial attempt to bring Grendel and his world into live action.

The original announcement of the series was made in September 2021. Supernatural executive producer Andrew Dabb was attached as showrunner.

Abubakr Ali was chosen to play the title role. Also, Julian Black Antelope and Barry Palumbo played Argent and Emma Ho played Stacy Palumbo.

Andy Mientus, Flash alumni, was named as Grendel.
