Patrick Corbin pitches six, but the Nats fall short in extra innings

Dave Martinez was asked hours before the Washington Nationals' extra-innings loss on Tuesday night

whether Patrick Corbin would pitch to keep his spot in the rotation.

Corbin had not completed an inning in any of his previous outings

was then skipped to reset in the bullpen with no other batters.

Naturally, the manager evaded the question. After a close game against the Chicago Cubs

it was clear that the answer wasn't relevant to a team which had rallied twice

once, twice and a third time, and still searching for its first walk off win of the season.
