Rafael Nadal gives verdict on Novak Djokovic being banned from US Open with Roger Federer announcement

World no.1 Novak Djokovic, earlier this week, pulled himself into this year's US Open 2022 competition owing to the American government's Covid-19 protocol

which prohibits the entry of foreigners who are not vaccinated in the US.

It was only the second occasion Djokovic was unable to participate in an event at a Grand Slam tournament owing to his inability to undergo Covid vaccination.

As part of the massive debate about the ban, Rafael Nadal has given his decision on the matter in the release of a Roger Federer statement.

Djokovic made his announcement via Twitter hours before the draw took place on Thursday.

The Serb was in the final at Flushing Meadows last year, but Daniil Medvedev stopped him from getting the much-coveted Calendar Year Grand Slam.

"From my personal viewpoint, this is extremely sad news.

It's always disappointing when the top players in the world don't have the chance to participate in a tournament because of injuries or other reasons.
