Republican Ron DeSantis wins reelection as Governor of Florida.

Florida voters have voted to grant Republican Ron DeSantis a second term as Florida's governor in a poll call from The Associated Press.

DeSantis defeated a challenger Charlie Crist, a former Democratic Congressman who, while a Republican was elected Florida Governor for more than 10 years back.

The win gives DeSantis the chance to run for a second term, as well as a platform for national recognition, as his eyes are set on a possible campaign in 2024 for the Republican Presidential nomination.

DeSantis was elected first governor in the wake of receiving an official endorsement from President Donald Trump.

The first time he was president, DeSantis wooed Trump supporters by launching a series of scathing attacks on his administration.

Biden administration. DeSantis resisted his president's COVID policies and put White House, medical advisor, Anthony Fauci as the main target of criticism.

DeSantis was against policies that require COVID vaccines as well as facemasks.

He also enacted regulations that regulate how public schools instruct students about sexual orientation, race and gender identity.

These measures caused him to be at odds against local schools as well as with federal policy on education.
