The Colombian world-renowned singer will face an upcoming trial in which she has to get her name cleared after being accused of tax fraud. 

In the year 2018, Shakira was accused by Spanish prosecutors of not paying 14.5 million dollars ($13.9 million) in taxes on the income that she earned between 2012 and 2014, according to AP. 

If the mother of two children is in court, she will face an eight-year prison sentence and the possibility of a fine.

The 45-year-old "Hips aren't lying" singer has denied any wrongdoing and has paid her debts and added three million euro ($2.8 million) as interest. 

Although the date of the trial has not yet been set, however, the Barcelona court is attempting to charge Shakira with six charges of tax fraud, saying that she was a tax evader.
