William Gibson's newest novel series is getting a TV adaptation.

It's surprising that there's not been a flurry of authors William Gibson's dark cyberpunk stories being transformed into film or television.

He certainly has influenced some iconic sci-fi movies like The Matrix and Strange World.

However, Prime Video's take on The Peripheral, based on Gibson's book with the same title it's an original direct adaption by Executive Producers Jonathan Nolan, and Lisa Joy along with Vincenzo Natali.

A complex tale that takes place in the near future of 2032 and 2070.

it explores the ways in which technology becomes an instrument for conflict, atrocities, and connections as well as the eventual salvation of the human race.

While it's well-produced and has excellent images, The Peripheral sags under the weight of a tale that has too many plot lines to follow that aren't engaging and at a pathetically slow speed.

If there's anyone who's competent sufficient to carry Gibson's style of futuristic science-fiction storytelling to the television screen, Nolan, Joy, and Natali definitely have been given the chance to take on the task.

Nolan was the co-creator of Person of Interest, while Joy directed Reminiscence and Natali directed episodes of Hannibal The Strain and Westworld.
