Writer Julie Powell, known for her food blog "The Julie/Julia Project," passed away on the 26th of October at 50, according to her biographical obituary in The New York Times.

Her blog about food was the inspiration for"Julie & Julia," a 2009 movie "Julie and Julia" in which the lead actors were Amy Adams as Powell and Meryl Streep as cook Julia Child.

According to Decider, Powell began her blog after she was inspired to cook all of the recipes from Child's cookbook "Mastering The Art of French Food Volume 1."

Powell's blog was later the subject of a great deal of attention, and it was later published as a book
