Thinking about it more than that isn't going to make this rom-com a better vehicle for George Clooney and Julia Roberts

however, the "com" aspect is to be a little lacking in a film that's more enjoyable when it's sweet rather than salty.

The salty starts early and, often, is based on the reality it was Clooney as well as Roberts' David and Georgia were married for five years (that Clooney claims were like 19)

returning to each other after their less-than-amicable separation for events shared that concern their daughter Lily (Kaitlyn Dever ), making the most of it, like always of the little she has here).

Just recently graduating from an in-law, Lily has taken off to Bali on a blow-off steam vacation with her roommate/friend (Billie Lourd) prior to starting her new job in a well-known firm.

But she's thrown off the plans once she falls in love with a local seaweed producer (Maxime Bouttier) and is engaged within just a few weeks.

to stop her under the pretense of going to the wedding even though their bond is marked by a lot of (mostly inane) disagreements and bickering.
