Twitter begins mass layoffs by Elon Musk

Twitter CEO Elon Musk has begun mass layoffs, reducing Twitter's workforce to 7,500 employees and initiating a wholesale restructuring of the company.

Late Thursday, the company sent an email to employees informing them of plans to reduce jobs. The subject line was "Your Role at Twitter"

Notifications to employees who are keeping their jobs will be sent via their company email.

They would also be notified via email if they were to lose their jobs.

"Team, We will undergo the difficult process on Friday to reduce our global workforce in an effort put Twitter on a healthier path," the email stated.

We are aware that this will have an impact on a few individuals who have made valuable contributions, but we believe this is necessary for the company's continued success.

Anybody who didn't receive an email within 5 p.m. Pacific Time was advised to contact the company. Friday: The offices will be closed

The email stated that "We recognize this is an extremely difficult experience to go through, regardless of whether you are impacted."
