the sequel's plot would always have meant that Rooster’s mother Carole Bradshaw would be better off dead.

However, it's almost impossible to do this feat after more than three decades.

However, director Joseph Kosinski was able to make the long-awaited Top Gun: Maverick sequel a success, thanks in large part to Cruise's engaging and heartfelt story.

Top Gun: Maverick was the sequel Top Gun fans had hoped for, despite the 36-year delay between the previous installments.

Quentin Tarantino, the legendary director, noted that Top Gun: Maverick felt like it was directed by Tony Scott, an action cinema legend.

Top Gun: Maverick's tight plot was a key factor in this success.

Although it brought back some of the franchise's most beloved characters like Iceman, the sequel did not rely on nostalgia to bring them back.
